Prima edizione PSG Portogallo 2026

The first Portuguese PSG tournament in Vila Real.
A great competition featuring 19 teams

Professor Riccardo Lubrano will be in attendance.
Residents from Portugal will be coming to Latina for the eighth edition of the Italian PSG

Nineteen teams, nearly 120 residents competing, and a spirited competition among young pediatricians from nearly all of Portugal’s pediatric training programs, led by their mentors. The first Portuguese Pediatric Simulation Games took place from April 16 to 18, 2026.

The University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro in Vila Real is hosting the Games as part of the 11th EuSPP Meeting 2026. Professor Riccardo Lubrano, the creator and organizer of the Italian PSG, was in attendance. And this year, in Latina, there will also be Portuguese graduate students, who enjoyed a wonderful evening party on Saturday the 17th.

The core principle of the PSG remains the same across all seven Italian editions: participants experience the urgency of the situation, develop leadership skills, and learn how to save lives. Under the Portuguese motto “simulate today to save tomorrow”, the simulation becomes a real-life experience: performance, structured assessment, and debriefing transform every scenario into concrete, safe learning—without any risk to the patient. Gamification sparks energy and motivation, making the training intense, immersive, and memorable.

This initiative began in Rome in 2017 with the Italian Pediatric Simulation Games, grew and evolved to include Latina, and has long since expanded across Europe with the participation of teams from Spain, France, Lithuania, Latvia, and Portugal. This year, the first edition of the Portuguese PSG: The Future of Pediatric Training is touring Europe.

The Portuguese organizing committee consisted of the following members: Ana Rita Silva Pereira, Marta Isabella Cunha Dias, Diana Isabella Ribeiro Carvalho, Mariana Santos, and Davide Jose Fernandes Cachada, with support from the scientific committee comprising Aida Sá and Juan Calviño.
